The DS18B20 sends temperature readings over a single wire bus using the Dallas 1 wire protocol. A digital sensor has the advantage of noise immunity, consistency, and reduced calibration requirements as compared to an analog sensor like the TMP36 which is easily affected by factors such as wire length. Multiple sensors can share the same bus and each is identified by its own 64 bit ID.
